WHEN WE KNOW HIS NAME, WE WILL EXPERIENCE HIS GLORY!
But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. (Matthew 13:23 NIV)
Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? The farmer sows the word. Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown.” (Mark 4:13-20)
Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (Joshua 1:7,8)
For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. (Proverbs 2:6)
Build your faith to excel in the name of the Lord in all your undertakings. Recognize who you are in the Lord so you will see yourself not as victims but as victors!
Like David, many of us have mustered up the courage to say, “enough is enough”. “I am going to do something about the situations in my life that violate the promises of God.” Unlike David, many of us have been struggling with the same giants for extended periods of time. Some of us have tried unsuccessfully to bring the matter under control. Perhaps now is a good opportunity to evaluate the weapons you have used in your quest for victory.
A discerning heart distinguished David from every other man in Israel that day. Standing anchored on God’s assessment of the situation, he concluded that the battle was not man’s but God’s. True to his nature, he immediately became concerned about the honor of God and the nation.
Like the nation of Israel, we allow giants to go unchallenged in our lives. If we do not deal with giants, they will keep taking territory away from us and get bolder in their threats until they completely destroy us.
Although it takes human effort, the end result of "giant slaying" is never the product of human work. It is divinely accomplished through the power of God working in our lives.
